Angular distributions of nitrogen flux effusing into a vacuum are obtained by the experiment to assess the validity of the Larsen-Borgnakke model in the DSMC method. The DSMC results based on the Larsen-Borgnakke model show a qualitative agreement with the experimental data. But a quantitative agreement is difficult even if we use any value of T-R energy transfer probability. The angular distributions of nitrogen are compared with those of argon. The distribution of nitrogen is wider than that of argon over all ranges of the Knudsen number.
